Australia vs West Indies: West Indies and Australia had a similar start to their world cup campaign, by winning over their respective oppositions by 7-wickets. Both the teams are now set to lock horns at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham, to play the 10th fixture of the ICC World Cup 2019.
West Indies are currently placed 2nd in the points table after New Zealand dethroned them from the top spot. However, the Windies boast a remarkable run-rate of +5.802, which is almost the double of what New Zealand currently holds. Australia are placed just below them with a run-rate of +1.860, while both the teams have one win each.

West Indies played Pakistan in their first game and the pace-attack was right at the target. The team only played with the pacers, who were stellar in their bowling. The bowled-out Pakistan for 105, to seal the victory in less than 14 overs. Australia, on the other hand, played against Afghanistan in their tournament opener. It was the return of the big guns David Warner and Steve Smith into the side and the Aussies were waiting with bated breath to see them both back in action. David Warner did not disappoint, with a sensational knock of 89*(114), to eventually win the game for them with 7-wickets in hand.
Both Australia and West Indies look pretty strong and confident for tomorrow’s clash. The Aussies will be aware of the fact that the Windies boasts a deadly combination of having one of the top pace-attacks, combined with that of power-hitters. With the likes of Chris Gayle & Andre Russel in the team, Australia will need to plan their strategy accordingly. Concurrently, West Indies will have to fear the mighty David Warner as he can be lethal if he gets going. And going by the form that he is currently in, he will pose a great threat to West Indies in the match.
Talking about the match, Australia coach Justin Langer said, “We have to change. We’ve seen in this tournament that there has been some good, fast bowling so far. We have to adapt our game plan and adapt pretty quickly … But our blokes have spoken about that and they’ll be ready for it.”
