Australia vs West Indies Match 10 Predictions | ICC World Cup 2019
Australia vs West Indies: West Indies and Australia had a similar start to their world cup campaign, by winning over their respective oppositions by 7-wickets. Both the teams are now set to lock horns at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham, to play the 10th fixture of the ICC World Cup 2019.
West Indies are currently placed 2nd in the points table after New Zealand dethroned them from the top spot. However, the Windies boast a remarkable run-rate of +5.802, which is almost the double of what New Zealand currently holds. Australia are placed just below them with a run-rate of +1.860, while both the teams have one win each.
THE STORY SO FAR…
West Indies played Pakistan in their first game and the pace-attack was right at the target. The team only played with the pacers, who were stellar in their bowling. The bowled-out Pakistan for 105, to seal the victory in less than 14 overs. Australia, on the other hand, played against Afghanistan in their tournament opener. It was the return of the big guns David Warner and Steve Smith into the side and the Aussies were waiting with bated breath to see them both back in action. David Warner did not disappoint, with a sensational knock of 89*(114), to eventually win the game for them with 7-wickets in hand.
Both Australia and West Indies look pretty strong and confident for tomorrow’s clash. The Aussies will be aware of the fact that the Windies boasts a deadly combination of having one of the top pace-attacks, combined with that of power-hitters. With the likes of Chris Gayle & Andre Russel in the team, Australia will need to plan their strategy accordingly. Concurrently, West Indies will have to fear the mighty David Warner as he can be lethal if he gets going. And going by the form that he is currently in, he will pose a great threat to West Indies in the match.
Talking about the match, Australia coach Justin Langer said, “We have to change. We’ve seen in this tournament that there has been some good, fast bowling so far. We have to adapt our game plan and adapt pretty quickly … But our blokes have spoken about that and they’ll be ready for it.”

WEATHER REPORT
The weather report has pretty bad news for all the fans. The report predicts heavy pouring, starting at 9 AM, up until 7 PM. So, the chances are we would witness this tournament’s first washed away game. The forecasters have confirmed that even if the clouds decide to spare us the wrath, the DLS Method will most likely make its way to the game. The skies will be covered in thick clouds, throughout the game. The temperature will hover around the 17-Degree Celsius mark, creating pleasant playing conditions for the teams. The humidity is expected to hover between the 40s and 50s.
PITCH REPORT
Trent Bridge has a reputation of being a paradise for batsmen. However, this reputation was put to test in the tournament so far. Teams struggled to score what would have been an easy task for the teams of this stature on any other day. Too many wickets fell in every match, making us reconsider calling it a batsmen’s paradise. The game between Pakistan and England was played on the world-record strip, however, it is not clear whether the same pitch will be used in the upcoming match too. Considering the weather and pitch conditions tomorrow, it may be a logical decision to field first on winning the toss.
TEAM COMBINATIONS
AUSTRALIA
There seems to be no cause for change in the Australian side. The Aussies are most likely to go into this game with the same combination. The orange cap holder from the recent IPL edition, David Warner has been in the best form of his career and he is continuing in the same form in the ongoing tournament too. Aaron Finch too has continued the form he displayed in the recent IPL games. The team will look up-to Steve Smith to step up and deliver a good performance for Smith could wipe off all troubles for the team in the batting department.
The Australian bowling side too had stepped up in the previous game. Apart from Nathan Coulter-Nile, every other bowler claimed a wicket each at least. The team will heavily depend on Pat Cummins and Zampa, who have been in an excellent form.
PROBABLE XI
Aaron Finch (c), David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Alex Carey (wk), Nathan Coulter-Nile, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa.
WINDIES
West Indies, sitting at the top of the NRR chart with a whopping +5.802, shall see no reason to make any swaps in the team. Chris Gayle and Shai Hope are at their career-best form. Darren Bravo hasn’t yet made his mark in the tournament. He got out for an embarrassing duck in the last game against Pakistan. His failure was compensated by Nicholas Pooran, who made run-getting look easy.
The world is in anticipation to witness theatrics by Andre Russell, who had been absolutely destructive in the IPL series. The team will not just expect him to delivery with the bat, but will also look at him to step up and create a strong bowling attack with Holder. Oshane Thomas and Sheldon Cottrell will be the most crucial bowlers on their side.
PROBABLE XI
Chris Gayle, Shai Hope (wk), Darren Bravo, Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Andre Russell, Jason Holder (c), Carlos Brathwaite, Ashley Nurse, Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas.
PROBABLE TOP PERFORMER
Aaron Finch – Australia | Chris Gayle – Windies
