Bangladesh vs India Match 40 Predictions | ICC World Cup 2019

Bangladesh vs IndiaIndia’s unbeaten run has ended. The English men had to be at their absolute best to beat the men in blue(orange on this occasion). A series of decisive errors cost India the game. Jason Roy gloved one to MS Dhoni & that wasn’t picked by the Indian lads. Kedar Jadhav wasn’t even introduced into the bowling attack when the two tweakers were going for plenty & on a track that was slowing down drastically, the slower ones were barely used.
India’s slow didn’t help either. Chris Woakes didn’t concede a run in his first three & the others were given way too much respect. It was down to the lower order to chase over 9 runs-per-over & considering their timid run in the tournament so far, a defeat was certainly on the cards.
MS Dhoni was never under this magnitude of scrutiny. He’s certainly lost the ability to strike those maximums at will & there was no intent whatsoever from the former Indian captain. India needed 83 off 42 with 6 wickets in hand & went on to lose the game by 31 runs. Very unlike Dhoni & very unlike the Indian team.
Vijay Shankar has been ruled out for the remainder of the event & he’ll be replaced by the pugnacious Mayank Agarwal.
Shakib Al Hasan went berserk in Bangladesh’s previous game. The world’s best all-rounder batted patiently & ran through the Afghani middle order. Shakib also became only the second cricketer after Yuvraj Singh to score a fifty & pick a fifer in the same game. The legion has some quality blokes in the line-up & they’ll unquestionably fancy their chances.

When: 2nd July 2019, Tuesday
Where: Edgbaston, Birmingham
Kick-Off Time: 3:00 PM, IST

HEAD-TO-HEAD

The teams have met 34 times in ODIs, with Bangladesh winning only 5. However, in the last 4 years, Bangladesh have cranked it up a notch. The once, “minnows” now have all the firepower in the world to challenge the very best.
Post the 2015 World Cup, out of the 6 games played between the two sides, the Bangla boys have had their share of success, albeit the stats favour the men in blue. (India lead 4-2)
In the quadrennial tournament, the teams have met thrice. The very first encounter was in the 2007 World Cup, where a Bangladeshi win eliminated the 2003 finalists. India won the opener in the 2011 edition & the men in blue got the better of the Bangla tigers in the previous version of the mega event. Winning that contest by 109 runs.

TEAM NEWS

Bangladesh are expected to remain unchanged for this contest. Bangladesh played Afghanistan on the 24th of June & after an eight-day gap will look to hold their shape against the best team in the world.
The men in blue brought in Rishab Pant for the injured Vijay Shankar. Shankar’s injury seems to have gotten worse since then & he’s been ruled out of the World Cup. Mayank Agarwal has been summoned as a replacement for the Indian all-rounder.

FAB FOUR FOR BANGLADESH

The current Bangladesh unit has all the goods to deliver & do it against the top teams. They are a much more balanced side & the management here deserves a massive pat on their back. Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal & Mashrafe Mortaza have been Bangladesh’s go-to men. Since April 01 2015, Bangladesh have played 68 games, Won 37 & lost only 28.
Their overall ODI record – Played: 368, Won: 125 & Lost: 236. Speaks volumes of how far they’ve come as a unit. They’ve got a plethora of talent in their ranks but the majority of the credit has to be handed to this fab four. How have they performed in this period?

PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR (BANGLADESH vs INDIA)

THE TORCH BEARER FOR BANGLADESH

Tamim Iqbal has been the standout performer for Bangladesh in the last 4 years. The southpaw averages 122.38 in the games Bangladesh wins. Out of the 7 hundreds he’s scored during this period, 6 of them have resulted in victories. Clearly, if Tamim fires, Bangladesh are in a position of strength more often than not.
This World Cup, Tamim has batted 6 times & has gotten off to a start every single time. His last 3 innings in the World Cup 2019 – 48, 62  & 36. Against India, the classy left-hander has scored 574 runs in 17 innings @33.76. How will he fare against the likes of Mohammad Shami & Jasprit Bumrah? If Bangladesh fancy a win, the onus will be on Tamim to set a strong foundation. He’ll be one player to keep a keen eye on.
FACT: From the current lot of India bowlers, only Yuzvendra Chahal & Kedar Jadhav have dismissed the left-handed dasher.

MR. SHARMA GETS BETTER & BETTER

Rohit Sharma looks like an artist when in full flow but desperation can also make this Mumbaikar try a few unpleasant hoiks. The opener scored his 3rd hundred of the tournament but never looked in complete control. The pull strokes arrived, the cover drives came off the meat of the bat but there were plays & misses, inside edges & loopy mistimed strokes that fell between fielders.
One factor that makes Sharma one of the finest batsmen in world cricket is his ability to erase the erroneous stroke & focus on the next. Against Bangladesh, Sharma has scored 556 runs @ 55.60. In the year 2019, he’s only 4 away from a thousand runs. His average – an impressive 55.33. The right-handed genius has scored 18 hundred after the 2015 World Cup(only one fewer than Virat Kohli) & if he gets his eye in, this elegant run-machine will smack the leather off of the ball. Watch out
